چکیده

Abstract Background Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a subacute or chronic superficial inflammatory skin condition, characterized by pruritic, erythematous plaques with greasy, yellow-gray scales, which appear on areas rich in sebaceous glands such as the face, scalp, upper chest, and back. Aim of Work To identify Malassezia species that are involved development SD different body sites (face, scalp trunk) age groups, using Chrom agar. Patients Methods Forty nine patients seborrheic attending dermatology outpatient clinic Ain shams university hospital samples collected from December 2018 to June 2019. Results In this study, most affected were other face ears, concordant majority studies worldwide. The role sex propensity spp. Infection still unclear. Conclusion distribution healthy diseased shows significant variation differences, although our knowledge yeasts has increased tremendously during last two decades, their pathological roles remain ambiguous, there currently no conclusive evidence any given responsible for specific disease.

Identification of Malassezia Species Isolated from Patients with Seborrheic Dermatitis Using PCR-RFLP Method in Arak, Iran

Abstract Background and Objective: Malassezia that is a part of normal flora is lipophilic yeast involved in a variety of skin diseases such as seborrheic dermatitis, pityriasis versicolor, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Seborrheic dermatitis affects most often the sebaceous-gland-rich areas of skin such as face, scalp, and parts of the upper trunk. Dandruff is a mild variant of seborrheic de...

Identification of Malassezia species from immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients with seborrheic dermatitis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Differences in prevalence, clinical and histological manifestations between seborrheic dermatitis (SD) in immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients suggest that these two populations might also differ in a spectrum of isolated Malassezia species. The purpose of our study was to analyse the prevalence of Malassezia species in immunocompromised and non-immunocomprom...

Prevalence of Malassezia species isolated from skin of patients with seborrheic dermatitis reffered to Tonekabon clinics by PCR- Sequencing method

Abstract Background and Objective: Malassezia yeast is considered lipophilic normal flora of human skin and warm-blooded vertebrates. This fungus is an opportunistic pathogen in causing seborrheic dermatitis. In this study, the yeasts isolated from the crust of the patients with seborrheic dermatitis were identified by PCR-Sequencing. Material and Methods: In this study, 65 ...

Distribution of malassezia species on the scalp in korean seborrheic dermatitis patients.

BACKGROUND Malassezia species play an important role in the pathogenesis of seborrheic dermatitis. In particular, M. restricta and M. globosa are considered to be the predominant organisms in seborrheic dermatitis of Western countries. However, species distribution of Malassezia in seborrheic dermatitis has not been clearly determined yet in Asia. OBJECTIVE To identify the distribution of Mal...
